Dr. Khalifa Abdul Hakim and Allama Muhammad Iqbal had a similar Kashmiri ancestery as well as educational background with their doctorates in philosophy from Germany. Though there was a difference in their ages there was a lot of appreciation and commonolity of interests amongst them related to religion, eastern and western philosophy, literature and poetry with Iqbal's strong recommendation he was offered faculty appointment in Osmania University Hyderabad Deccan. As a great admirer of Iqbal's thought Hakim's elaboration of Iqbal's views have been amply recognized through his books and articles. Jalal-uddin Rumi------- Iqbal's "murshed" was also Dr. Hakim's main interest. This was reflected in his doctoral thesis as well as in a number of books and articles he authored elaborating Rumi's basic themes. These are considered standard texts in this field.
